ANAL TOYS

anal toys | Usually long objects, made of rubber or other pliable substance, that is used to penetrate the rectum of another, for sexual stimulation, pleasure.

Meaning

Inanimate objects, specifically designed for use within the rectum, though any object could be used.

These devices are for the stimulation of the sphincter muscle, and in some instances, the prostate gland.

In practice, any object used for anal stimulation, can be classed as being an 'anal toy'.

Practice

Most devices, made for the rectum, are shorter in length than other penetrating devices. This is to avoid possible ripping or tearing of the internal lining or of damage to colon.

These are also wider at one end, than at the tip, and usually include a ridge or barrier, to prevent being taken fully inside the rectum, or to prevent them from being pulled in by the muscle contractions.

A handle exists, behind this wide barrier, for ease of use, to generate an in and out motion, without risk of lodging the entire device internally.

Proper lubrication is required, or recommended, to further reduce risk of injury to the internal linings. In addition, most of these devices are of a smooth texture, primarily to avoid tearing issues.

The purpose is to stimulate the sphincter muscle at the opening to the rectum, through a combination of thrusts inwards, while also stretching the muscle itself, then relaxing it.

For sanitary reasons, many recommend that even if these items are properly sterilized before and after use, that a condom should also be used during use. All toys, should be kept sterilized prior to use, and after use, to avoid the risk of infection.

Proper hygiene is required as well, to insure that the lubricant is properly dissolved or cleansed, after use with any sex toy, including anal toys.

 DILDO

dildo | Long tubular shaped object that is used for insertion into the rectum, for added stimulation, for replication of anal intercourse.

Meaning

Generally a phallic shaped object, that is used to stimulate one's rectum, by insertion of the device in and out of the rectum. For women, it can be used in the vagina, and anus. While most consider a dildo to be penis shaped, it can be any long tubular object, used in such a manner.

Dildos are actually considered a 'sex toy' for women, while 'butt plugs' are the most used for similar objects used for insertion into the rectum, rather than the vagina. Purists, will say a dildo for female use, butt plug for male use.

History

Originally a word that described a device that was used to lock oars in place. This 'peg' resembled the shape of a penis, used in 'dory's'.

There is evidence that 'dildos' as a sexual device has been around for ages. Ancient Egyptians are known to have used them, as were Ancient Greeks. ( a vase was discovered, depicting a woman inserting a 'dildo', the vase has been dated to the 5th Century BC )

Most earlier renditions of dildo's were made of stone, tar, and wood. These items were used, because they would be both firm enough for insertion, and were able to be shaped easier, to resemble the male penis.

Ancient Chinese women supposedly finished their wooden versions with lacquer, to make the surface smoother, less painful or dangerous during insertion & withdrawal.

Construction : Modern materials have allowed for a safer, more enjoyable use of these sex toys.

In the 1940's, rubber with metal springs were most common, however the rubber did tend to break, exposing the springs, which could cause serious injury.

More pliable 'rubber jelly' came later. It is a PVC rubber, with filler, that makes the material less firm. However, there are potential health risks with these type of products, even though most of today's less expensive dildos are made from it.

Due to the presence of phthalates, there is potential health risk, specially if shared. Risks include Cancer. Most of these dildos do carry a warning, recommending use of condoms with the dildo.

Due to the material used, these are more difficult to properly sterilize.

In the 1990's the development of Silicone Rubber Dildos helped improve the safety issue. With their increased numbers, and lower cost, they are the ideal material. These dildos are able to withstand constant use better than the more pliable 'jelly rubber' variety.

They are also considerably more firm, allowing for better insertion techniques.

They are able to be better enjoyed, as they can conduct vibration better, as well as adapt to body temperature. Both of which add to the pleasure they can create.

Chrome Plated Steel Dildos are becoming common as well, as are Glass Dildos. Both are firmer, making for easier insertion, and help to better stimulate the prostrate. However, because of their firmness, there is added risk to damaging the rectal lining, or bruising.

Steel Dildo's are used in many BDSM role playing, due to their firmness, but also because they conduct electricity easier. In addition, they can quickly be cooled, or heated, for added stimulation or torture, in the case of S/ms.

Glass Dildos are on a par with the Chrome Steel variety. They are generally constructed of Pyrex, and are NOT HOLLOW. They are also more expensive that your garden variety dildo, for that reason. They too are extremely firm, easy to sterilize, hold temperatures well, on both extremes.

History (Legend): Past discoveries from the Ice Age, refer to 'batons' that many would argue had no other purpose than to be sex toys. However, they are reluctant to state so.

The oldest dildo discovered, was in Ulm Germany, and dates back about 30,000 years.

Practice

Prior to use, any object being inserted into the rectum, should be sterilized, allowed to dry naturally. Ideally, a condom covering would also be recommended, to help prevent any risk of infection.

Care should be taken, to insure the device being used, is free of any SHARP EDGES.

The more relaxed a person is, the less painful an insertion will be. In addition, good lubrication practices are essential. This would include properly lubricating the rectum, as well as the Dildo.
